MOBILAIR at the 1st Co-Creation Workshop on Artificial Intelligence in Mobility, Athens
On 31 March 2026, ITS Hellas, the Greek association of ITS stakeholders, organised the 1st Co-Creation Workshop on Artificial Intelligence in Mobility in Athens. MOBILAIR was invited to participate and contributed to the round table on “AI in Green, Inclusive and Sustainable Mobility”, moderated by V. Mizaras of CERTH/HIT.
The round table brought together researchers, practitioners and policymakers to explore how AI-driven approaches can transform urban mobility towards sustainability. The discussion produced a set of key conclusions that directly resonate with the MOBILAIR project’s approach:
– Air quality predictions exploited by digital twins for mobility planning and management were identified as a potential killer AI application at city level.
– Structured datasets for emissions and mobility are still missing as a fundamental prerequisite for AI applications in urban transport.
– User behavioural analysis, user mobility support, and user rewarding were identified as three critical AI-based use cases for sustainable mobility applications — all three of which are core pillars of the MOBILAIR application.
– An all-in-one mobile application owned by the City is a primary objective, but the multiple stakeholders involved in such a scheme require careful coordination.
MOBILAIR’s participation in this event reflects the project’s commitment to contributing to the national and European dialogue on AI in mobility, and to sharing the lessons learned from Thessaloniki with a wider community of cities and practitioners.
